Why the Yuki Fishing Lure Box Lives in My Backpack

I used to be the type of guy that had to have a huge tacklebox with 69,000 drawers full of every kind of fishing lure known to man. But up until just a few years ago, before I got my first boat, I was primarily a bank fisherman. I learned quickly that dragging a huge tacklebox around with you everywhere you go gets old pretty quick. So I ended up only grabbing a few lucky lures and walking around with them the rest of the time.

I started watching YouTube videos and paying more attention to the bank anglers and what they were doing, and that’s when I discovered the fishing backpack. I’m telling you, that is a complete game changer—and I’ll plan to do a couple reviews on the bags I’ve been using lately. But what I want to talk about in this review isn’t the backpack itself, but one of the items I’ve found most useful to put in the backpack: the Yuki Fishing Lure Box.

The Box That Changed How I Fish

I use this box to organize all of my hooks, weights, bobber stoppers, jig heads, and swivels. This is my go-to box anytime I’m doing a lure change, or if I just want to swap out what I’m using. It has everything I need, all in one organized and tidy spot.

Another great thing about this box is the build quality. It’s very durable, made from hard plastic, and has a gasket to keep everything inside dry and protected. There’s a big latch that really lets you know when it’s fully closed. It also has adjustable compartments, so you can remove or add separators to make sure it suits your needs. I also like that it has four rubber strips on each side to give it a little grip—so if you put it on a fiberglass boat or something, you don’t have to worry about it sliding around.

How I Set Mine Up

In my box, on the one side, I have compartments set up for 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, and 6/0 EWG hooks, and then a specific spot for 5/0 EWG worm hooks. On the other side, I have two compartments each set up for 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 oz worm weights; a compartment for swivels; two compartments for 3/0 and 4/0 flipping hooks; two compartments for wacky rig hooks; one compartment for weighted jig head hooks; and one for bobber stoppers.

One of the things that made it easier for me to remember what sizes things are was using a label maker. So I printed out labels for each size hook and stuck them on the outside of the compartments, so I wouldn’t have to think about what size hook I’m grabbing.
